Issue 1: Why Your Mind Matters

From the Desk of a Christian Neuropsychologist

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the very first issue of The Clear Mind Weekly. I’m honored that you’re here.

My name is Dr. Matt Bridgman, and I’m both a follower of Jesus Christ and a neuropsychologist. For decades, I’ve been helping people with their mind, especially with questions like …

“Why can’t I remember things like I used to?”
“Why don’t I feel like myself lately?”
“Is this just aging… or something more?”
“Am I doing everything I can to stay sharp?”

And I’ve come to find that these questions aren’t just medical—they’re emotional, spiritual, and fundamental to being human.

🧭 Why This Newsletter Exists

Equipping Christians to renew their minds and strengthen their brains—one habit at a time.

To help answer questions about your mind, and give simple, actionable guidance - grounded in science and anchored in scripture - that’s why this newsletter exists.

📖 Why the Bible Says a Clear Mind Matters

This isn’t just about memory or mood—it's about stewardship of your mind, which God values deeply. Here’s what He says about our minds:

  • “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.”
     (2 Timothy 1:7)
A clear mind isn’t just a “nice to have” — it’s part of how God equips us for life.

  • “Be sober-minded; be watchful.”
     (1 Peter 5:8)
    Mental clarity is spiritual armor.

  • “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
     (Romans 12:2)
Change starts with how we think.

Taking care of your mind and your brain is a spiritual act—of worship, of preparation, of obedience.

🙏 A First Step

Let me leave you with this thought for the week:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
 (Proverbs 4:23)

Guarding your heart includes tending to your mind - strengthening your memory and balancing your mood - so that your life can reflect the peace and purpose of Christ.

Thank you for trusting me on this journey.
